MY LIFE STORY
M onique was born on December 3, 1983 in the city of Bayonne, New Jersey to whom she describes, the two most loving people she's ever come to know and love. Although a having a small family consisting of her two parents and one older brother, Monique's life was filled with much joy and overflowing love. She spent her early years in Jersey City, New Jersey where she received her first taste of expressive art by way of ballet. As time went on Monique discovered a love for poetry. At the ripe age of 12, she began compiling her thoughts and releasing them through her pen. Concerning poetry she says, "Poetry is life, struggles, pain, joy, tears, sadness, smiles, and relief. Poetry is emotion bubbling forth, creating beautiful art in a form that can only be felt"

"Through poetry I can recreate personal experiences, share my love for this art form, and allow others to pear into my heart and mind. Through my poetry, I share a piece of me." She attributes most of her inspiration to her surroundings and experiences. But finds much joy when she thinks and writes about those whom she loves dearly, her parents. "My parents played and still play a vital role in my life, from my mother teaching me how to be a 'lady', to lessons on domestic duties, and my father teaching me how to carry myself and instilling in me the confidence needed in order to gain the respect I deserve in life, I remember it all….. but the most important lessons and the greatest thing they've given me was a start to a wonderful relationship and knowledge of our heavenly Father and creator, to whom I attribute pieces that I've written because his beautiful creation moved me to do so."

Aside from her passion of poetry and a great love for God, Monique enjoys being in the kitchen. Yes, cooking is a passion passed on to her through her mother. In her eyes GOOD food and a GOOD read are all we all need. Monique's work is featured on MrAfrica.Net where she is a member of this ever so talented and growing poetic family. Do feel free to take a poetic stroll over to that site where poetic inspiration abounds.

MY FAMOUS QUOTE

If we accept and acquiesce in the face of discrimination, we accept the responsibility ourselves and allow those responsible to salve their conscience by believing that they have our acceptance and concurrence. We should, therefore, protest openly everything . . . that smacks of discrimination or slander.
